Quickstart

Sign in, capture your first blip, make a radar, triage what you captured and point an agent at it, in about five minutes.

Updated October 30, 2026 · Checked against On My Radar build 2c4905d

In about five minutes you will sign in, capture a blip, make your own radar, sort what you captured and find where to connect an agent. If a word is new, see What is On My Radar.

1. Sign in

  1. Go to onmyradar.io/login.
  2. Enter your email address and choose Send me a code. There is no separate sign-up form. The same screen creates your account the first time.
  3. Open the email and enter the six-digit code, then choose Sign in. Enter the code in the same browser where you asked for it. A code only works there. If you used another browser, the screen offers Send a new code.

A code expires after 10 minutes, and five wrong attempts use it up. If the screen shows a button named "Continue with" followed by a provider name, your installation also has single sign-on, and you can use that instead.

If you were invited, open the link in your invitation email. The sign-in screen shows who invited you and has your address filled in.

If you land on a waiting page

Whether a new account is let in straight away depends on how your installation is set up. In the default setup, new accounts are waitlisted:

  • You see "You are on the list" and an email says the same. An admin approves accounts.
  • When you are approved you get an email, and the waiting page lets you in by itself. It checks every 20 seconds.
  • If an admin invited you, or an admin shared a radar or topic with your address, you skip the queue, as long as that invitation is unclaimed and less than 14 days old.
  • If someone who is not an admin invited you, you still wait. The invitation is there for you as soon as you are approved.

If you are stuck on the waiting page, choose Contact support or ask your admin. The public waitlist form is at /waitlist.

2. Look around

A new account starts with three things:

  • First Radar, with a pinned blip called "Welcome to On My Radar". You can delete it.
  • A Drop box, for things with no home yet.
  • A dashboard tab called Mission Control, showing First Radar, an Inbox count and an Active work panel that counts Active blips by lane.

On a computer the sidebar lists Dashboards, All radars, Topics, Agents, Activity, the Drop box and your radars. On a phone, a bar at the bottom has Boards, Radars, a pen button for Quick drop, Drop box and You.

3. Capture your first blip

  1. Open First Radar.
  2. Click in the box at the top. On a computer it already has the cursor. On a phone, tap it.
  3. Type something, for example Try the new onboarding flow #idea.
  4. Press Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows and Linux), or choose Capture.
The Product ideas radar with the capture box focused at the top and the text 'Offline mode for the phone app, read blips on the train #mobile #idea' typed in; the detected tags 'mobile' and 'idea' are listed under it, next to a Capture button, with the list of blips below.

Pressing Enter on its own adds a new line. It does not send.

Below the box, a line shows what On My Radar worked out before you capture: tags · idea, or "will save as a link" if you pasted only a web address. On a Stream, your new blip appears in the list in the Inbox state.

To capture without choosing a radar, press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) anywhere in the app, except while your cursor is in a text field. A box titled "Drop box" opens. Type, press Cmd+Enter or choose Drop it in. On a phone, use the pen button in the bottom bar. See Capture everywhere.

4. Make a radar

  1. On a computer, choose the plus button beside "Radars" in the sidebar (its label is "New radar"). On a phone, open Radars and choose New radar.
  2. Enter a Name. The Tagline is optional.
  3. Pick a Layout. Leave it on Stream if you are unsure. You can change it later in radar settings. The available layouts can depend on your plan.
  4. Optionally choose a topic and a Look (colour and glyph).
  5. Choose Create radar.

You land on the new radar with its capture box ready. See Templates and lanes for what each layout does.

5. Triage

A new blip on a Stream starts in Inbox. Some templates start blips in a different state: a Discussion thread starts Active, for example. Triage means telling On My Radar what happened to it.

The Product ideas stream radar: a capture box, filter chips for All, Inbox, Active, Later, Done and Dropped with counts, tag chips such as #launch and #quickwin, and blip cards showing state badges, hashtags and comment counts.

On a Stream radar:

  • Use the chips above the list (All, Inbox, Active, Later, Done, Dropped) to filter by state.
  • Use the state select on a card to change its state.
  • On a touch screen, swipe a card sideways to mark it done or put it off. Swiping again on a settled card reopens it. Each swipe has an Undo.

On a Kanban, Reading list or Decision log radar, a blip has a lane instead. Moving a blip to a lane also sets its state. For the difference, see What is On My Radar.

To move a blip out of the drop box into a radar, add the Drop box to a dashboard tab with Add widget. Each blip in that panel has a File button, and you can also drag a blip onto another radar's panel. Or ask an agent to sort the drop box for you.

6. Connect an agent

Open Settings, then Connections. It shows the server URL for your agent and a New token button for local agents. Remote clients that support OAuth, like claude.ai, only need the URL and ask you to approve the connection.

Connecting an agent can depend on your plan. If your plan does not include it, ask your admin.

The full steps for each tool are in Connect your agent.
